Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted light to moderate rain with thundershowers in various places across Odisha today.
There is a possibility of thunderstorms with lightning in one or two places in the Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, and Bargarh. IMD has issued a ‘Yellow Warning’ for these districts in its weather bulletin.
The regional centre of IMD has predicted maximum and minimum temperatures for the twin cities, with Bhubaneswar having a maximum temperature of 32.0°C and a minimum of 26.0°C.
Similarly, maximum and minimum temperatures for Cuttack are 32.0°C and 25.0°C respectively.
There is also a possibility of a low-pressure area in the Bay of Bengal on July 7, which may result in heavy rainfall in the southern regions of Odisha and the neighbouring state of Andhra Pradesh. Stated, IMD.
Odisha is likely to receive less than 50-60 mm of rain in the coming week, with light rainfall continuing till July 17. However, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, and Deogarh districts, are expected to receive more than 80 mm of rain.
Between July 10-17, a total of 50 to 60 mm of rain is expected, on the north coast of the State. The Meteorological Department has stated that 70 to 80 mm of rain may occur in other areas.
