Bhubaneswar: The deep depression over the East-central Bay of Bengal (BoB) is very likely to continue to move nearly northwards and intensify into a Cyclonic Storm over the east-central & adjoining north Bay of Bengal around 25th May evening. Continuing to move further northwards, it would intensify into a Severe Cyclonic Storm by 26th May morning and cross Bangladesh & adjoining West Bengal coasts between Sagar Island and Khepupara by 26th May midnight as a Severe Cyclonic Storm with wind speed of 110-120 gusting to 135 kmph.
Under the impact of the developing system, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Bolangir, Sonepur, Boudh, and Nuapada during the next 24 hours, said the midday weather bulletin issued by the regional centre of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here today.
Besides, surface wind speed reaching 40-50 KMPH gusting to 60 KMPH is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, and Khurda during the same period.
Further, heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bhadrak, Balasore, Kendrapara, and Jagatsinghpur, the IMD added.
The weather agency has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for the abovementioned districts.
Moreover, during the next 24 hours light to moderate rain/thundershower is very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the districts of Interior Odisha.
