Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a nowcast warning for several districts in Odisha, predicting thunderstorms and lightning with gusty winds in the next three hours.
According to the nowcast warning issued by IMD at 1:30 pm, Mayurbhanj and Balasore districts will experience moderate thunderstorms with lightning and moderate rain accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching 40-50 kmph in the next three years. These districts have been issued orange warning. These districts have been issued orange alert. This may cause minor damage to loose or unsecured structures, banana trees, and standing crops.
Residents in these districts are advised to be prepared and move to safer places if the weather worsens.
Meanwhile, Boudh, Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Angul, Dhenkanal, and Cuttack districts are under a yellow alert. These districts are likely to witness light to moderate thunderstorms with lightning and light to moderate rain accompanied by gusty surface winds reaching 30-40 kmph. Residents in these districts are advised to keep a watch on the weather and take necessary precautions to protect themselves from lightning strikes.
