Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of continued monsoon activity across Odisha, with a low-pressure area over central Chhattisgarh contributing to widespread rain and thunderstorms in the coming days.
According to the midday weather bulletin issued by the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places over the next week, accompanied by yellow alerts for lightning, gusty winds, and isolated heavy rainfall in several districts.
The current synoptic situation indicates that the low-pressure area, which originated over south Odisha and adjoining Chhattisgarh, has shifted to central Chhattisgarh as of 0830 hours IST today. This system, along with an associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 km above mean sea level and tilting southwestwards, is influencing the monsoon trough that now passes through Sri Ganganagar, Shivpuri, Damoh, the low-pressure center, Kalingapatnam, and into the central Bay of Bengal.
