Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea along and off the North Odisha Coast on March 21 due to squally weather.
Going by IMD prediction, wind speeds are expected to reach 40-50 kmph, gusting up to 60 kmph, with rough to very rough sea conditions.
Meanwhile, the IMD has issued orange and yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, forecasting thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, hail, and gusty winds till March 26.
For March 21, IMD prediction reads: “Thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and hail along with gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 50-60 kmph) is likely to occur at isolated places over the districts of Sundergarh, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Jharsuguda, Bargarh and Sambalpur.” Orange alert has been issued for these districts.
Moreover, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sonepur, Boudh, Bolangir, Kandhamal, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Rayagada, Nabarangapur, Koraput and Malkangiri have been issued yellow warning. These districts are likely to experience thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and gusty surface wind (wind speed reaching upto 30-40 kmph).
