Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning to fishermen, advising them not to venture into the sea along and off the Odisha coast from June 29 to July 1, 2025.

According to the regional weather office, squally weather is likely to prevail with windspeed 35-45 kmp/h gusting to 55 kmp/h along and off Odisha coasts from June 29- July 01. As a result, sea conditions are very likely to be rough to very rough.

Fishermen and coastal communities are advised to stay away from the sea and stay updated with the latest weather forecasts and warnings from the IMD to ensure their safety during this period.

Meanwhile, the IMD has been closely monitoring the weather conditions and has issued alerts to the concerned authorities.

It is pertinent to mention that a low-pressure system is currently situated over the northwest Bay of Bengal and adjoining Odisha and West Bengal coast. It is likely to move towards north Odisha and adjacent Gangetic West Bengal, Jharkhand, and Chhattisgarh. Under its influence, many places in Odisha are likely to experience rainfall with heavy rainfall expected in north Odisha and neighbouring districts till July 2.
