Bhubaneswar: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange and yellow warning for several districts in Odisha, predicting moderate to light thunderstorms with lightning, hail, and strong winds accompanied by light to moderate rain till May 24.

May 20: Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Bhadrak, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada and Gajapati. These districts have been issued orange warnings.
Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph gusting to 50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Nabarangapur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Jharsuguda, Sundargarh and Sambalpur. These districts are under yellow alert.
Besides, hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
May 21: Thunderstorm with lightning with gusty surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Sonepur, Boudh, Nuapada, Balangir, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Nabarangapur, Rayagada, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar and Sundargarh. These districts are under yellow alert.
Hot and humid conditions are very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati. These districts have been issued yellow warnings.

These districts are under an orange warning.

These districts have been issued yellow warnings.
May 23: Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40-50kmph gusting to 60kmph is very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Gajapati, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.

The regional weather office has issued yellow warnings to the districts.
May 24: Thunderstorm with lightning with surface wind speed reaching 40- 50 kmph gusting to 60 kmph very likely to occur in the afternoon/evening hours at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj. These districts are under an orange warning.
