IMFA Founder Bansidhar Panda Passes Away

**Bhubaneswar:** Noted industrialist and founder of Indian Metals & Ferro Alloys Ltd (IMFA) Bansidhar Panda passed away at his Bhubaneswar residence. He was 87.

He was also a renowned research scientist who started IMFA in a remote pocket of erstwhile undivided Koraput district of Odisha, which is now a leading, fully integrated producer of Ferro alloys.

Panda was also managing committee member of IIT Kharagpur and IIM Kolkata. He was also one of directors of NIT Rourkela.

Chief minister Sri Naveen Patnaik condoled the demise of the renowned industrialist and conveyed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family.

He is survived by two sons, Lok Sabha MP Baijayant Panda and IMFA MD Subrakant Panda and two daughters Paramita Mahapatra and Nita Ganapati.

The coveted Sarala Award for literature and Ekalabya Puruskar for sports in Odisha have been founded by IMFA under the able leadership of Bansidhar Panda.
