Cuttack: The low-key Durga Puja celebrations have come to an end as idols of Goddess Durga and her coterie are being immersed in make-shift temporary lakes here. However, amid corona pandemic, the regulations ensured that the usually grand send-off was in a sombre tone.
Elaborate arrangements have been made in twin cities to ensure a smooth idol immersion ceremony with restrictions on the social gathering. Any kind of music including gongs and loudspeakers are disallowed. The immersion ceremony started at 10 AM and will have to be completed by 6 PM.
Four time slots have been allotted to puja committees, namely 10 AM-12 PM, 12 PM-2 PM, 2 PM-4 PM and 4 PM-6 PM.
Cuttack Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prateek Singh had yesterday said that Durga idols belonging to 26 community puja pandals will be immersed in 14 temporary sites in different parts of the silver city.
Similarly, seven such spots have been designated for immersion in Bhubaneswar.
