Puri: Amidst devastation and misery, a heart-warming story has emerged from Puri. Renowned sand-artist Sudarsan Pattnaik lent a helping hand to a man who was trying to connect with his family in the worst-affected district.
A Twitter user named Rabinarayan Swain tagged the artist and wrote, “One of my friend stays in Brazil who is from Puri. His Father’s Name is Dhirendra Kumar Das, who lives in Panda Bagicha, Saikat Vihar, Sidhamahavir Patna. He has not talked to them since cyclone. Can you just enquire and let me know through Twitter.”
On getting the request, the Pattnaik immediately embarked on a journey to help the man. As soon as he found the family, he shared a picture with them and wrote, “It took more than two hours for me to find out their home in #Puri. They all are safe and doing good after #CycloneFani . Here is the photo of your friend’s family with me.”
Swain tweeted back, “Thanks sir for your help. Puri and all Odia people are proud of this gesture. God bless people like you. Noble souls still exist.”
While Puri is on the road to normalcy, 41 people have died since Cyclone Fani made landfall last week. Restoration of water supply, electricity and mobile connectivity has been taken up on a war-footing.
