Malkangiri: After a pretty long wait and dilly-dallying due to technical problems as well as other circumstantial factors, the much-awaited Gurupriya Setu in the cut-off areas of the Maoist-hit district is going to be inaugurated by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik on July 18.
This was informed by Chitrakonda MLA Dambaru Sisa to the people of his assembly constituency.
Also speaking to media, the MLA informed that all works of Gurupriya Setu have already been completed and the Chief Minister will be inaugurating it on July 18.
The 910-metre bridge is expected to resolve all the problems of communication for around 30,000 people of nearly 150 villages in the cut-off area in and around the Kalimela and Chitrakonda reservoirs.
Amid the Maoists opposing the construction of the project, round-the-clock security has already been tightened following which six high-resolution CCTV cameras have been installed at different locations of the bridge for its protection.
