Bhubaneswar: Although the twin elections in Odisha have largely been peaceful, post-poll violence have erupted in a number of places in the state during the last few days. Six people were left injured after a clash between two political groups at Bedpur village under Banki police limits in Odisha’s Cuttack district on Sunday.
All the injured have been admitted to Banki hospital for treatment.
While the precise reason behind the clash has not been ascertained yet, locals staged a road block on the Cuttack-Banki road on Sunday night protesting against the violence disrupting vehicular traffic for a long time.
In another instance of post-poll violence in the state, unidentified miscreants pelted stones at the car in which Pipli MLA Rudra Pratap Maharathy was travelling with his supporters on Sunday. The incident has been reported from Terundia under Nimapara in Puri district.
Following the incident, Nimapara police detained a leader of the Opposition party from Terundia panchayat.
