Bhubaneswar: Heavy rainfall in the Puri district, triggered by low-pressure over the Bay of Bengal, has prompted the district administration to shut down schools for the day.
The District Collector issued a notification to this effect, citing the disruption to normal life caused by the incessant rainfall.
The decision aims to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff amidst the severe weather conditions. With the rainfall showing no signs of abating, the administration has taken this precautionary measure to prevent any potential risks or accidents.
Going by the latest weather report issued by the India Meteorological Department (IMD), isolated places in the Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Khurda and Cuttack districts of Odisha are likely to experience moderate rain/thundershower with one or two intense spells of rain within the next three hours. An orange warning for rain accompanied by thunder and lightning has been issued for these four districts.
