Independent MLA Sanatan Mahakud To Confront BJD In Panchayat Polls

**Bhubaneswar**: A day after declaration of panchayat elections in the state, independent MLA from Champua, Sanatan Mahakud declared that he will field his own candidates in the upcoming elections.

Mahakud’s declaration came after his meeting with some senior officers and ministers in the State Secretariat.

Speaking to the media after the meetings, he said, “I discussed with many senior government officials and Ministers. I informed them that my constituency is being neglected consistently. The Government earns enormous amount of revenue from my constituency but people are still left in lurch. I have decided to field my own candidates in the ensuing panchayat elections.”

Mahakud, the controversial leader from Champua in Keonjhar district, is known for his compatible relations with the ruling BJD. However, his stubborn stand has indicated bitterness between them.
