Paradip: Indian Coast Guard (ICG) personnel and their families today observed International Yoga Day with the theme ‘Yoga for Humanity’.
To introduce the benefits and advantages of yoga to ICG personnel and their families, No.7 Coast Guard District (Odisha) celebrated International Yoga Day in a befitting manner at Coast Guard Residential Area in Kalinga Vihar here under the supervision of a Yoga instructor, a representative of Patanjali, Paradip. The event was also observed at Bhubaneswar and Gopalpur simultaneously.
According to an official press release, at the Yoga session which started here at 5.30 AM about 100 personnel including Officers and their family members participated. The ships in the harbour also conducted Yoga sessions on board for their officers and personnel.
During the session, the Yoga instructor elaborated on the advantages of Yoga in modern life, importance of meditation, how to improve mental power and physical strength, and importance of stress-free life.
Yoga is a practice that brings about harmony between the body and the mind and gives physical power, provides mental balance and emotional stability to meet modern life challenges successfully, the instructor pointed out.
Common Yoga protocol was introduced during the yoga session to popularise various Yoga practices like Pranayama, Dhyan, Surya Namaskar, Bhujangasana, Salabhasana, Kapalbhati etc.
