Indian Organ Donation Day Observed: Orissa High Court Chief Justice Leads By Example, Pledges To Donate Organs

Bhubaneswar: Orissa High Court Chief Justice Chakradhari Sharan Singh has pledged to donate his organs on the occasion of Indian Organ Donation Day.

He made this commitment while attending a programme to mark the day at SCB Medical College in Cuttack as the chief guest.

Chief Justice Singh stated that organ donation is a noble act and should be promoted at all levels, including rural areas.

“Organ donation is a noble and selfless act that has the potential to save countless lives. It is essential that we promote awareness and encourage people to come forward and pledge to donate their organs after death. This message needs to reach every nook and corner of our society, including rural areas,” maintained Singh.

On this occasion, families of individuals who have donated organs were felicitated.

Dr Manas Ranjan Sahoo, Vice-Chancellor of Odisha University of Health Sciences, came up with a big announcement on this occasion. He stated that organ donation would be included in the MBBS curriculum.

Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, President of Indian Organ Donation Society Dr Prabhas Acharya, SCB Medical College Superintendent Dr Sudhanshu Sekhar Mishra, Head of Urology Department Dr Sameer Swain, Additional DME Umakant Satpathy, and Head of Nephrology Department Dr Aruna Acharya were also present as guests and highlighted the importance of organ donation.
