Bhubaneswar: The 84th Annual Session of the Indian Roads Congress (IRC) concluded in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, marking the end of a four-day event that brought together more than 2,500 delegates from India and abroad to discuss the future of road infrastructure and innovation.

Hosted at Janata Maidan from November 7 to 10, the grand event witnessed participation from engineers, government officials, research scholars, and representatives from leading institutions.

The session served as a platform for knowledge exchange, with discussions centered around modern technologies, sustainable construction, and emerging challenges in road development.

Over the course of the event, 19 technical meetings were held on crucial aspects of road design, maintenance, and modernization. Experts and engineers presented research papers and deliberated on strategies to strengthen and enhance India’s vast road network.

A key attraction of this year’s conference was the “Open-to-Sky Stall Area”, which featured 20 exhibits showcasing innovative road infrastructure models and technology-driven solutions. In addition, more than 350 technical exhibition stalls displayed advanced equipment and mechanized techniques, including mastic applications and other modern construction methods.

The final day of the session featured the 236th Council Meeting, where IRC President Manoranjan Parida expressed gratitude to the Government of Odisha, officers, and engineers of the Works Department for their seamless coordination in organizing both the technical sessions and cultural programmes.

Adding a cultural touch to the proceedings, a cultural evening was organized for delegates, featuring performances by acclaimed singers Rituraj Mohanty, Krishna Beura, Ananya Sritam Nanda, and Barnali Hota, along with traditional dance presentations celebrating the rich cultural heritage of Odisha and India.
