Bhubaneswar: IndiGo has suspended flight services between Bhubaneswar and Abu Dhabi due to escalating tensions in the Middle East. The airline has temporarily halted operations of flights 6E 1442 (Bhubaneswar to Abu Dhabi) and 6E 1441 (Abu Dhabi to Bhubaneswar) as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety.
The suspension comes in the wake of recent escalations in the Middle East, including heightened tensions between Iran and Israel, and US strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities. IndiGo has taken to its Twitter handle to assure passengers that flights will resume once safe corridors are established.
“In view of the evolving situation in the Middle East, our flight operations to and from Dubai, Doha, Bahrain, Dammam, Abu Dhabi, Kuwait, Madinah, Fujairah, Jeddah, Muscat, Sharjah, Riyadh, Ras AI-Khaimah and Tbilisi have been suspended at least until 1000hrs today. We understand the impact this may have on your travel plans, and sincerely regret the inconvenience. Please be assured that this decision has been taken as a proactive safety measure”, read the tweet.
It is pertinent to mention that the Bhubaneswar-Abu Dhabi direct flight service was launched earlier this month, on June 12, with an inauguration ceremony attended by Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the Biju Patnaik International Airport.
