**Angul:** In a horrific incident, a 40-year-old man bludgeoned his wife with a stone to death on Sunday night at Guhalbanka Sahi under Nisa police limits here. The man, Sukant Dehury sat beside the body of his wife for over six hours and was involved in drunken brawls with neighbours who attempted to intervene.
According to reports, Sukanta was involved in a war of words his wife, Tiki Dehury. Infuriated over the quarrel, Sukanta attacked Tiki with a stone which inflicted grievous injuries on her head. When the neighbours tried to intervene to rush a profusely bleeding, to the hospital, Sukanta did not spare the rescuers.
Since the family lives in a densely forested region, the information was transmitted to the police by Monday morning. A police team arrived at the spot and managed overpowers the drunken husband. Unfortunately, the woman had bled to death by then.
Industrial (Nisa) police have registered a case and arrested Sukanta on charges of murder. He was produced in a local court which remanded the accused in judicial custody.
