(In)Humane Bhadrak Police Parades 72-Yr-Old Woman From Court To Jail!

**Bhadrak:** In a gross violation of human rights, the district police here on Saturday allegedly paraded a claimed to be seventy-two-year-old woman under trial prisoner (UTP) from the district court to the jail after her bail plea was rejected.

Notably, the distance between the court and the jail is about 1.5 km.

The name of the senior citizen has been identified as Bharati Pati of Kanpur village under Tihidi Police Station limits in the district.

Tihidi PS IIC claimed that her Voter ID states her to be 72 years old.

Bharati Dei has been arrested in an alleged dowry death case.

Such a shocking incident has raised many eyebrows among the locals and the intelligentsia here as such a bizarre incident is reminiscent of the British Raj as well as the medieval period in history and most recently the barbarism of the savage ISIS.

The appalling incident has further tarnished the virtually viewed big-bullish and boorish image of the police even after 70 years of Independence and despite advocacy of social policing system as well as its human face.

On being queried telephonically, Bhadrak SP Dilip Das told OMMCOM NEWS on Tuesday, “She might be of 60+. Let me look into the matter.”
