Bhubaneswar: The controversy surrounding Choudwar Jail continues to escalate as the body of an undertrial inmate was recovered on Monday.

The deceased has been identified as Pabitra Sahu.

Meanwhile, police have seized the body and sent it to SCB Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem. Preliminary investigations suggest that Pabita died by suicide, but the exact circumstances remain unclear.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the jail, raising concerns about the safety and security of inmates.

Of late, the jail’s security arrangements have been criticized for being inadequate, with incidents of inmates escaping and gang clashes occurring regularly. The alleged suicide death has further tarnished the reputation of Choudwar jail.
