Khurda: With just a few hours left before Diwali celebrations begin, festive fervour has taken over the nation. Choosing a unique and innovative mode of celebration, a Jatni man set up a multi-tiered earthen lamp inside a bottle.
Eminent miniature artist, L Eshwar Rao, has gained popularity over the years with his miniature, eco-friendly arts dedicated for various occasions.
And in the festive spirit of Diwali, Eshwar set up a multi-tiered earthen lamp or diya inside a bottle. It took about seven days of extreme patience and sharp skills to build this model. The lamp’s height is about 3.5 inches and clay, glass and paper was used in its making.
He said, “I urge everyone to not forget their roots and use handmade diyas for decorating their houses.”
He had said this in the context of people preferring cheap Chinese lights over traditional diyas. He requested everyone to make Diwali the festival of lamps.
Previously too Eshwar had garnered attention by making miniature Hockey World Cup, Cricket World Cup, eco-friendly Ganesh idols, and had carved PM Narendra Modi and Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik’s faces on separate pencil nibs after their thumping victories in the Lok Sabha polls held in May this year.
