Bhubaneswar: Two warships of the Indian Navy, INS Gharial and INS Rana will be docking at the Paradip Port for the Navy Day celebrations on December 4, Paradip Port sources said.
These naval vessels will be mooring in the prohibited area of Paradip Port.
However, the silver lining is that the general public will be allowed to have a look at these war machines and their jobs on November 24 and 25, the sources added.
Such programmes are organised every year as part of the Navy Day celebrations on December 4 to enthuse the general public.
Visitors have to first go to Gopabandhu Stadium for security check from where they will be ferried to the prohibited area of the port by special buses wherein the war machines will be docked, said sources.
It may be mentioned here that INS Gharial, a Magar-class amphibious warfare vessel commissioned on February 14, 1997, is one of the largest ships in the Indian Navy, a mammoth Landing Ship Tank – Large (LST-L), capable of carrying two helicopters, one in the hangar and one on deck, 10 Vijayanta tanks in her underbelly and four Landing Craft Assault (LCA) slung aloft.
