Bhubaneswar: Odisha continues to sizzle as the regional office of the India Meteorological Department (IMD) here has issued red and orange warnings for the heatwave to severe heatwave conditions for at least three more days. The weather conditions are likely to be further unbearable on Tuesday as the day temperature may rise further by 2°C.

The weather office has issued a red alert in 10 Odisha districts for Tuesday including Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Angul, Nayagarh, Khurda, and Cuttack. An orange alert has been issued in 12 districts including Balangir, Sonepur, Ganjam, Malkangiri, Bhadrak, Jaipur, Deogarh, Sambalpur, Nuapada, Jharsuguda, Gajapati, and Sundergarh.

Hot and humid conditions are likely to prevail in Nabarangpur, Gopalpur, Bargarh, Rayagada, Koraput, and Puri.

The day temperature in the coastal areas of the state is expected to drop gradually by 2°C to 3°C after May 3 but the humidity will continue to remain high. There will be no significant change in day temperature in interior Odisha.

On the other hand, kalbaisakhi was experienced in several places in the state on Monday. Several houses were blown away by strong winds, while numerous trees were uprooted. People in Ganjam, however, received some respite from the intense heat as the area experienced thundershowers.

People have been advised not to venture outdoors between 11.00 am and 3.00 pm unless necessary.
