Bhubaneswar: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast moderate to intense rainfall accompanied by hailsstorm and lightning in some parts of the State today evening.
A red warning has been issued by the IMD for the forecast. The districts which are very likely to be affected by this are: Nayagarh, Khurda, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, and Jajpur.
The Twin City of Bhubaneswar and Cuttack will also witness a spell heavy rain and lightning, the IMD predicted, during the next three hours.
Under its impact, damage to thatched huts, minor damage to power and communication lines due to breaking of branches, water logging in low lying area, some damage to standing crops, banana, papaya trees and orchards may occur, the IMD stated.
“People are advised to take shelter in pukka structures and avoid taking shelter under trees. Farming operations is to be temporarily suspended during occurrence of event. Also move away from electric poles and wires,” the IMD alert read.
