**Rayagada**: In a major achievement, Rayagada Police on Wednesday arrested nine persons while busting an inter-state robbery gang.
The accused were identified as Anil Kumar Bag (27), Narayan Bag (25), Tankadhar Suna (28), Kapilash Kumbhar (28), Mukesh Das (22), Sabar Saraka (26), Narendra Saraka (26), Amin Behera (45) and Ugrasen Bag.
According to police, the accused persons had stolen a Maruti Swift car from a couple who was on the way to Rayagada from Koraput on 22nd April of 2016.
Mahesh Kumar Gouda along with his wife and a minor son were returning from Koraput and near Gumma village the miscreants intercepted and asked them to get down from the car while directing the driver to go towards a jungle.
In the jungle, the accused fled with the car dropping the driver.
The accused had stolen cash Rs 9,000, a gold ring and three mobile phones from the couple on the same day.
The police also said that the miscreants had committed a robbery of Rs 65,000 under Tusura police station in Balangir district on 2nd May.
The accused persons were involved in many cases under Rayagada, Kalahandi, Boudh, Balangir and Subaranpur districts, police further informed.
