Bhubaneswar: The preface to the culture and a place is hidden in history, and it is very important to delve into the glorious past of Kharavelas to know the rich heritage of Odisha. But, little has been written about it, which makes it all the more necessary to have more research done on this particular subject, said Vice Chancellor, Utkal University of Culture Prof Byomkesh Tripathy .
The international edition of a novel ‘Salabhanjika’ written by Dr Indramani Jena was released in English at Hotel Swosti, where Prof Bakshi was present as chief guest. During the release of the book, he added, “This book reflect the art, culture, techniques used in that era.”
Prominent Odia writer Gourahari Das presided over the event. History is like elixir. As elixir is found after churning of the occean, similarly the richness of history lies in research.
Chief speaker Dr Ashok Kumar Patnaik, former professor Utkal University, termed the book as a documentary evidence in regard to the era of Kharavela which has been very nicely put in a fiction form. This will provide an insight of the Kharavela history in a very interesting manner to the international readers.
Guest of Honour Dr Jatin Ku Nayak, former English professor, Utkal University was of the opinion that past never eludes and it is a humongous task to write about past with fine details.
The author of the book,Dr Indramani Jena, revealed that ‘Salabhanjika’ was the English version of the popular Odia novel Nisardha Salabhanjika, with some additional elements.
This edition was published by America’s publication House Black Eagle Book and will be available in various countries of Europe. The novel Salabhanjika is the story of the dark period of Indian history revived from architectural remains.
Dr Jena is a native of Bhubaneswar and is professionally a physician in practice since last 50 years. His inquisitiveness for his profession and the society has made him a professional author at first hand. He has authored three story books, Nisardha Salabhanjjika, Fakkad and Ei Matira Kahani.
