Sundargarh: Sundargarh Town police late on Monday night arrested four persons following a raid at an IPL betting den in Mahadevpada area of the town.
Police have seized Rs 5, 17,200 in cash, one laptop, six smartphones, three bikes, and credit and debit cards of different banks from the accused persons.
The accused persons have been identified as Mithun Sahoo (33), Sanjay Sahoo (40), and Sanjay Kumar Sahoo (40) all from Bhitriapada and Subodh Choudhury (46) of Khamaripada.
Acting on a tip-off that IPL betting was underway at Mahadevpada, Sundargarh SDPO Himanshu Behera, and Town police station IIC Aditya Mahakud along with other policemen raided the place. At the time of the raid online betting on IPL cricket tournament was underway.
Town Police have registered a case under sections 294A, 420, and 34 of IPC and section 4/5 of the Prize Chits & Money Circulation Ban Act of 1978 in this connection.
