**Nabarangpur: ** Tension ran high at Jharigaon in Nabarangpur district when a lawyer was manhandled by locals for allegedly attempting to molest a minor girl.
On December 30, taking advantage of absence of the victim’s parents, Sanjay Kumar Nayak, a notary, had allegedly tried to molest the minor girl at her own house.
The girl described the deplorable act to her mother. At first the girl’s mother hesitated to disclose the sensitive matter to her husband.
However, she revealed it on January 9 following which her father consulted the village community members who advised him to lodge an FIR with the police.
While the father wrote the complaint on th very day, he formally filed it with the local Jharigaon police on January 10.
After the incident came into the lime light, the victim’s parents and some irate villagers thrashed Nayak in the middle of the road in front of public.
