Irate Villagers Intercept & Set Ablaze Vehicles Transporting Cattle In Balasore

Balasore: Local villagers set ablaze three cattle-laden pickup vans near the Tardhana intersection of Kamarda-Baliapal main road under Kamarda police limits here on Saturday night.

According to reports, three pick-up vans allegedly transporting around 100 cattle to neighbouring West Bengal were accosted and intercepted by a group of villagers who got into an altercation with the driver and staff of the vehicles.

The argument intensified between them following which the group of villagers set the vehicles ablaze after setting the cattle free. The matter was infored to the police which reached the spot and averted the situation from aggravating further.

A senior police official said that two cases have been registered in this connection on the basis of complaints filed. Police have been deployed in the area, and an investigation is underway.
