Keonjhar: A truck loaded with iron fines caught fire and was reduced to ashes near the Kalapahad area in Odisha’s Keonjhar district on Tuesday.
According to reports, the truck (Reg No OD 09 P6554) which was heading from Kashia mines to Deojhar suddenly caught fire near the Kalapahad area on National Highway 520. As the fire was at the rear end of the vehicle, the driver was initially unaware of it.
When the driver’s notice was drawn towards the fire, he stopped the truck on the side of the road and tried to douse the blaze. However, he was injured in his endeavour to put off the flames. Consequently, the vehicle was reduced to ashes.
On being informed by the locals, Fire Services personnel arrived at the spot and brought the fire under control.
The injured driver Satyandra was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. According to the driver, the right rear tyre was overheated and it triggered the fire.
