**Bhubaneswar**: An actor’s life drastically changes after he faces an allegation like sexual harassment. It has happened earlier in different film industries starting from Hollywood to Bollywood.
No matter how much popular or talented the actor is, his personal as well as professional life takes a different turn by not remaining the same as used to be before the controversy.
The Odia film industry, known as Ollywood, has been under scanner when a sexual harassment case was lodged against popular actor Papu Pom Pom alias Tatwa Prakash Sathpathy for allegedly exploiting a minor girl sexually in pretext of giving her a break in Odia films.
Prior to this controversy, he was one of the most-sought-after actors in Odia film and TV industries. He was starring in almost all movies being made here and was hosting some popular reality TV shows.
Now, the question here is whether it is ‘The End’ for Papu Pom Pom or if he would be back with vengeance at his previous popular stardom status.
There is no doubt about it that many of his fans and audience were shocked by seeing their favourite actor sent to jail after a few days of hide-and-seek and media trial.
But, to know the effect on the actor’s life post this controversy, we met some industry insiders and veterans from the film fraternity. Here’s what they had to say about the actor earlier considered to be making a film hit even without a heroine.
“After this incident, it is sure that Papu Pom Pom’s film career will definitely nosedive. Various commercial programmes he was doing. His family members will also suffer as the society will mock at them. Post the incident, there are many Odia girls who are aspiring to join film industry will also think twice now before taking the plunge,” said Odia film critic Dilip Hali, who had reviewed some of the films of the actor.
Kuna Tripathy, actor and a popular TV host has also a different point on the issue.
“As the bail plea of the actor has got rejected, now it will definitely affect his film career.
There are some directors and producers who had thought to make their films with him will abandon that idea and go ahead without him,” said Tripathy, who is also the secretary of Odia Cine Artists Association.
“It’s sure the controversy will have a hundred percent effect on the actor’s professional life. But, like earlier, we will reiterate our stance on the case that nobody has the right to call him a criminal till he is proved guilty in the court of law,” Tripathy maintained.
Therefore, we can say that whether the actor will have the same professional life like earlier depends upon his fans, who once adored him like anything.
Till then, we should refrain from making any conclusions.
