Bhubaneswar: A group of five probationers from the 2025 batch of the Indian Statistical Service (ISS) visited Odisha as part of a two-week Field Exposure Training Programme, engaging with senior officials and gaining insights into the State’s development framework.
The probationers are among 31 officer trainees currently undergoing probationary training at the National Statistical Systems Training Academy under the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation.
During their visit from March 30 to April 10, 2026, the trainees were attached to the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES), Odisha, and also interacted with the Rural Institute of Planning and Applied Economics and Statistics.
As part of their official engagements, the probationers paid a courtesy visit to Development Commissioner-cum-Additional Chief Secretary Deoranjan Kumar Singh on April 9 at the Planning and Convergence Department. Discussions focused on Odisha’s long-term development roadmap, including Vision 2036 and Vision 2047, along with the State’s income dynamics.
The trainees also called on Chief Secretary Anu Garg, further enhancing their understanding of the administrative structure and governance priorities of the State.
During an interaction session, Additional Secretaries Prakash Chandra Mohanty and Pradumna Mahakud briefed the probationers on the roles, functions, and key initiatives of the Planning and Convergence Department.
The visit provided the ISS probationers with valuable field-level exposure to statistical systems, policy planning, and implementation mechanisms in Odisha.
