Issuance Of ‘Fake’ COVID Positive Certificate: BMC Issues Notice To Diagnostics Centre In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation has issued a show cause notice to a diagnostics centre in the capital city over reports of irregularities in issuance of COVID positive certificates.

The show cause notice issued by the Deputy Commissioner (COVID), BMC stated that the Corporation has taken note of a newspaper article which highlighted issuance of fake COVID positive certificate by the organisation.

“The test report is also published in the media and which was verified to be genuine report issued from your laboratory with fake reading thereon. It is therefore confirmed that your lab has issued a fake COVID positive certificate to a random person without following proper procedure,” the notice stated.

The aforementioned diagnostics centre has been asked to respond within three days as to why the license issued by the competent authority will not be cancelled for violating the provisions of relevant statutes and action as per Epidemic Diseases Act will not be taken, the notice further stated.
