J&K Terror Attack: Odisha Bids Solemn Adieu To Her Brave Martyrs, CM Offers Rich Tributes

Bhubaneswar: Mortal remains of the two Odia CRPF jawans who attained martyrdom in Pulwama terror attack arrived at Biju Patnaik International Airport in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik alongwith various State and Central leaders, top IPS and IAS officials and CRPF personnel paid rich tributes to the two martyrs after their bodies arrived in a special flight at around 3 PM.

The two brave sons of Odisha, Manoj Kumar Behera and Prasanna Kumar Sahu were accorded guard of honour in presence of their family members after which their bodies were taken to their respective native places.

Manoj (33), a native of Ratanpur under Niali block of Cuttack and Prasanna (46), a native of Shikhar under Nuagaon block of Jagatsinghpur had enlisted themselves in the rank of Constable (GD) in the CRPF on January 21, 2006 and on December 8, 1992 respectively.

While Manoj was posted in 61 Battalion, Shivpora, Prasanna was posted in 82 Battalion, Siraj Cinema, both in J&K.

On February 14, the two along with various other CRPF personnel of different units were travelling in up convoy from Jammu to Srinagar when an unknown suicide bomber rammed a car laden with explosive into their bus at Jammu-Srinagar highway near Lethpora in Pulwama.

The suicide bomber has been identified as a 'Fidayeen' belonging to the Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), a banned terrorist organisation, allegedly backed by Pakistan.

As per the latest reports, the attack has claimed lives of 49 CRPF personnel, while many others are still undergoing treatment for the injuries sustained in the blast.
