Cuttack: Maintenance of law and order will be the top priority of the police during the ensuing festive season, asserted newly appointed Cuttack DCP 2013 batch IPS officer Jagmohan Meena on assuming office on Tuesday. Meena previously served as the Superintendent of Police (SP) in Ganjam.
“Our primary focus is to ensure a peaceful and smooth conduct of the festivals,” stated Meena briefing reporters after assuming office.
Meena stressed the importance of improving police-public relations. He highlighted plans to enhance the professionalism of officers through soft skill training, ensuring respectful and courteous interactions with the public, particularly within police stations.
The new DCP also underscored a zero-tolerance approach to crimes against women, pledging stricter action and faster police response times during emergencies. “We will address these issues with firm resolve,” he remarked.
To facilitate better communication, Meena announced that his official phone number and WhatsApp contact would be made widely available to the public, encouraging citizens to directly report issues or seek assistance.
As part of a broader strategy, he revealed that a list of known professional criminals would be maintained and monitored closely during the festive period to prevent any potential disruptions. Special attention will be given to women’s safety, with increased patrols and vigilance across the city.
Expressing his excitement to serve in Cuttack, Meena said, “I am honoured to work in a city with such a rich cultural heritage. Our approach will be proactive in maintaining peace and order while strengthening ties between law enforcement and the community.”
