Bhubaneswar: In a violent incident at Bhubaneswar’s Jharpada Jail on Friday, the jailer and two warders sustained injuries after being attacked by three high-security inmates.
The incident unfolded when a scuffle broke out between two groups of inmates, prompting the jailer to intervene and restore order.
The inmates allegedly slashed the jailer’s hand with a blade, causing injuries. Two warders who rushed to assist were also hurt during the clash.
As the situation intensified, prison staff sounded the emergency siren, summoning Laxmisagar police to the scene for additional support.
According to a senior jail official, the three inmates were already classified as habitual offenders and had been confined to a high-security ward, which reportedly fueled their agitation and aggression.
Following the incident, a case has been registered with the Laxmisagar police station, and further investigation is underway.
