Bhubaneswar: Odisha Vigilance on Monday apprehended the District Employment Officer (DEO) of Jajpur while demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 12,600 through Junior Clerk of his office.
DEO Tapas Kumar Swain had been taking the bribe through Junior Clerk Jitendra Kumar Sethy from a driver towards hiring and fuel cost of vehicle engaged for official purpose in his office.
Based on a complaint of the driver, the Vigilance laid a trap and caught Swain and Sethy. The entire bribe money has been recovered and seized from the exclusive possession of Sethy.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are going on at three locations of Swain, i.e., at his Flat No-B-204, Kamalavihar, Palasuni, Bhubaneswar, double storeyed building located at K-4, 1417, Patrapada, Bhubaneswar and his house at his native village at Athanga, under Niali police limits of Cuttack district from DA angle.
Cuttack Vigilance has registered a case and investigation is in progress against Swain and Sethy.
