Bhubaneswar: The Jajpur district administration has taken measures to combat the rising cases of diarrhea in the district. Due to the prevalence of the water-borne disease, all government employees’ leaves have been cancelled.
District Collector P. Anvesha Reddy announced that all offices will remain open from June 14 to 16, and no employee will be allowed to take leave during this period. Previously granted leaves have also been revoked.
The situation in Jajpur district has worsened, with the number of diarrhea patients increasing to 622 and the death toll reaching 11. The affected areas include Dharamshala, Jajpur Road, Danagadi, Sukinda, Korei, and Rasulpur blocks. Over 285 patients are currently undergoing treatment at various community health centers.
The state health department has deployed medical teams to the affected areas and is working to identify the source of the outbreak. State Health and Family Welfare Secretary S. Ashwathy has visited Jajpur to assess the situation and directed district authorities to take necessary steps. Representatives from the WHO, ICRM, and the Ministry of Health, Government of India, have also visited the district to evaluate the situation
