Jajpur: Mystery shrouds the death of a second-year nursing girl student of Xavier Nursing College in Odisha’s Jajpur district. The body of the deceased Nibedita Sahoo was found hanging in her hostel room on Wednesday.
According to reports, the girl left home at 7.30 am for college and around 2.00 pm her family received a call that she was seriously ill and had been admitted to a medical facility in Jajpur Road. Her uncle and other family members rushed to Jajpur and were told by the college authorities as well as the police that she had hanged herself in her hostel.
However, when her roommates found Nibedita hanging from the ceiling of her hostel room, they informed the authorities and the latter rushed her to the Jajpur Road Community Health Centre. The doctors there declared Nibedita brought dead.
On being informed about the incident, officials from Jajpur Road police station reached the health center and started an investigation into the unnatural death.
Sub Divisional Police Office (SDPO), Jajpur Road Sanjay Patnaik told reporters, “An FIR has been registered in connection with the death and an investigation is on. The exact reason behind the death can be ascertained after getting the post-mortem report.”
Meanwhile, Nibedita’s family members have cried foul alleging that she had been murdered. The deceased’s uncle Manoj Kumar Das told the media, “We have lodged an FIR and are hopeful of getting justice. There must be some foul play which has forced her to take the extreme step.” “When the girl left home on Wednesday morning, she was in perfect health and a good mood. We see no reason why she should commit suicide. We doubt something happened after she reached her hostel and demand a proper probe into the matter,” he added.
