Jajpur: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Sunday announced an ex-gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh each to the families of two men who were shot dead by robbers during a dacoity attempt in Jajpur district.
Majhi expressed his grief over the incident and also stated that the state government would cover the medical expenses of those injured in the incident.
The tragic event occurred when two people were killed by miscreants during a robbery attempt at a jewellery shop in the Panikoili area of Jajpur on Saturday. The deceased have been identified as Nilamadhab Panda, a local resident, and Sunil Ray, an employee of the jewellery shop.
Five bike-borne miscreants entered the shop and attempted to rob Ray while he was on his way to deposit cash in a bank. Unfortunately, both Ray and Panda lost their lives in the attack.
