Jan Seva Kiosk Owner Dupes Elderly Man Of Rs 3.20 Lakh In Bhubaneswar

Bhubaneswar: A retired State Government employee was has been duped by the owner of a Jan Seva Kendra owner at Bharatpur area of the city. The victim, Malyabant Swain was duped of Rs 3.20 lakh by one Bibhu Prasad Nayak and his wife Rekhamani Nayak of Kendrapada.

The couple own a Jan Seva facilitation centre at Bharatpur. Swain had gone to this centre to link his Aadhar and PAN card to bank account. The fraud couple asked him for his mobile phone and allegedly manipulated the SIM card.

They switched the mobile off and asked Swain to switch it on after 24 hours. Within a day, the duo siphoned around Rs 3.20 lakh from Swain's account.

After realising that he has been cheated Swain lodged a complaint with Khandagiri police. On the basis of his complaint, Nayak and his wife were arrested and forwarded to the court. They have been sent to judicial custody.

On the other hand, Swain is distressed and broken. He has lost all his retirement benefits in one go. "I had saved this money for my daughter's marriage. But now I have only Rs 1,000 left in my account. What will I do? All my hopes have shattered," said Swain, sobbing.
