Malkangiri: A jawan, who suffered bullet injuries during an exchange of fire with ultras that broke out at Jinalguda forest under the MV-79 police station area in Malkangiri along the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border on Thursday, has been airlifted to Visakhapatnam for better treatment.
As per reports, security forces received a tip-off that a group of Naxals from Chhattisgarh were crossing the river towards Malkangiri. It was then an encounter was ensued between Maoists and security personnel. The gun battle between Maoists and security forces in the MV-79 Jinalguda forest of Malkangiri district claimed the life of a Maoist.
Besides, jawan Dambur Bada Nayak sustained two bullet injuries on his leg during an encounter with Naxals.
Initially, the injured jawan was admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was airlifted to Visakhapatnam for better treatment.
