Bhubaneswar: Nuapada’s newly elected BJP MLA, Jay Dholakia met Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at the state headquarters in Bhubaneswar following his decisive victory in the Nuapada bypoll. Dholakia, accompanied by his mother, was welcomed by party leaders, including CM Mohan Charan Majhi, state president Manmohan Samal and other MLAs.
Addressing a grand felicitation ceremony at the BJP state headquarters a day after Dholakia’s historic by-poll win, Majhi assured continued development in Nuapada, saying, “Rajendra Dholakia may be gone, but as CM, I pledge to push forward with development projects that benefit this region.”
Majhi highlighted his government’s initiatives, noting, “We’ve launched projects worth Rs 1,101 crore, a significant investment in Nuapada’s future.”
However, Majhi criticized the previous government’s neglect, stating, “For 24 years, Nuapada was overlooked. Now, with our government in place, change is underway.”
Majhi congratulated Dholakia on his landslide victory, securing over 83,000 votes. He credited the win to the people’s faith in the BJP’s development agenda and the hard work of party workers. He praised Jay Dholakia, saying, “He’s the charioteer to drive development in Nuapada district.”
Also, Majhi criticized the BJD’s treatment of Rajendra Dholakia, alleging, “Despite Rajendra Dholakia’s dedication, he was abandoned by his former party when he needed them most. They didn’t even arrange a meeting with Naveen Patnaik during his health crisis.”
CM Majhi questioned the BJD’s stance on party switching, saying, “Is it treachery when someone seeks a better path? You offered BJP leaders tickets in the past, but now you’re calling us traitors?”
Majhi praised voters for giving befitting reply to the BJD’s criticism, adding, “Nuapada people gave a strong response to Patnaik’s ‘treachery’ remark. They chose development over divisive politics.”
Samal hailed the win as historic, saying it marked a significant shift in Odisha’s political landscape. He praised Majhi’s leadership and the party’s relentless efforts behind Dholakia’s success.
Dholakia thanked voters and party leaders, dedicating his win to the people of Nuapada and his late father, Rajendra Dholakia. He emphasized that the victory symbolizes the triumph of development and the people’s mandate for the BJP.
