Bhubaneswar: Casting serious doubts over the impartiality of the Odisha Police of which the Crime Branch is part, Leader of the Opposition (LOP) and senior BJP leader Jayanarayan Mishra reiterated his demand for a CBI probe in deceased Health Minister Naba Das’ murder case.
“I have no faith on Odisha Police as they are working like workers of a political party. People of Odisha have no faith on Odisha Crime Branch. I reiterate my demand for CBI probe into deceased Minister Naba Das’ murder, since the State government is attempting to cover it up,” said Mishra addressing a presser here today.
The LOP raised several pointers on the whole sequence of events that followed after Das’ was shot at.
Mishra said that Naba Das was taken to the Jharsuguda District Headquarters Hospital after he was shot at and an ECG of him would have been conducted at the hospital, the government should make it public.
“Again I would demand to know what was the health condition of Das at the time he was at the Jharsuguda hospital and whether he was fit to be shifted. I demand a certificate of his health condition then. Airport authorities should also give a certificate on Das’ condition when he was brought to the airport,” he demanded.
He asked why Chief Minister had folded his hands (namaskar) to Naba Das when he was being taken inside the Apollo Hospital for treatment.
“Does a person do a namaskar to someone who is younger to him in age and is alive? This is first time in the world that a surgery was carried out on a dead person. Surgery is never conducted on a dead person; it is post-mortem which is conducted on a dead person. So they conducted surgery on a dead person and then kept him in the ICU,” alleged Mishra.
Citing the above mentioned incidents Mishra claimed to have no faith on Odisha Police and and said that he has given up the security personnel provided to him by the State government for his security.
“Therefore, I will not avail any security cover provided by the Odisha Police,” announced Mishra.
The senior BJP leader while revealing that he and Naba Das were known as rivals of each other from their college days he was of the opinion that the matter is not his personal issue nor it was that of Naba Das’ family, it is an issue of the State wherein a Cabinet Minister of Odisha was murdered.
He alleged that Das’s family may have remained silent for business or political reasons.
“Since a Cabinet Minister of Odisha has been murdered, the people of Odisha will like to know the mystery behind the murder. Till an impartial probe is conducted the truth and mystery behind the murder won’t be unraveled,” asserted the senior BJP leader.
Mishra accused the Crime Branch of airing tales similar to tales told by grandmothers to their grandchildren.
He cited the stories told by the Crime Branch in the Pari, Mahanga murder and three versions of the stories in the case of Naba Das murder as similar to tales told by grandmothers.
