JE Outbreak: Odisha Govt Appoints OSD To Monitor Measures In Malkangiri

**Bhubaneswar**: The Odisha Government on Sunday appointed senior bureaucrat Nruparaj Sahu as special Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to monitor and oversee measures to check the spread of Japanese Encephalitis, the vector-borne disease in worst-affected Malkangiri district.

The deadly disease has claimed at least 56 lives in the district within 36 days for which the State Government has been drawing flak from various quarters.

According to reports, Nruparaj Sahu, who is currently working as Deputy Secretary of Panhayat Raj department, has been asked to oversee works in the tribal-dominated district.

The senior administrator will be camping in Malkangiri for two months for effective coordination between departments in order bring the menace under control.
