Jewellery Worth Over Rs 5 Lakh Looted From House In Rourkela

Rourkela: In a broad daylight robbery, 10 masked miscreants decamped with jewellery worth over Rs 5 lakh from a house under Jhirpani police limits here today.

As per reports, the house belongs to one Sumanta Tripathy and his family. The family members just had their lunch and were ready for an afternoon nap when the miscreants barged into their house and held them hostage by wielding firearms.

The miscreants snatched the gold chains of the female members of the house and later broke open the almirahs. They looted gold and diamond jewellery worth lakhs of rupees along with expensive watch and mobile phone. Besides, they took over Rs 3000 in cash from purses of Sumanta and his brother Sudipta, before fleeing from the spot.

Senior police officials along with scientific team reached the spot after getting the information. Meanwhile, a probe has been launched to nab the dacoits.
