Koraput: The Director of Jeypore Airport in Koraput district has invited flak from different quarters after he was accused of physical harassment by a female worker.
The allegations include making inappropriate comments and subjecting the woman to physical harassment.
As per reports, the female employee filed a complaint against Director of Jeypore Airport Commander Abakash Parida with Jeypore Mahila Police alleging physical harassment against him.
According to the complaint, the employee was hired as a sweeper at Jeypore Airport 10 months ago through the Road and Housing Department. The young woman got the job because her father is disabled and she had taken up the job to support her family.
The young woman alleged that she was subjected to mental and physical harassment, and was forced to work at the accused’s home. She also claimed that she was verbally abused with filthy language, casteist slurs, and racial insults.
The complainant further alleged that Parida made unwanted advances and subjected her to physical harassment. When she refused, he terminated her employment.
After facing unbearable harassment, she approached national women activists who helped her file a complaint at the local police station.
However, Commander Parida vehemently denied the allegations, terming them as baseless and false.
