Bhubaneswar: A devastating train derailment in Jharkhand on Tuesday has claimed the lives of two individuals from Odisha’s Rourkela, according to sources.
As per the report, two youths of Rourkela lost their lives as the Howrah-CSMT Express (train number 12810) derailed between Rajkharsawan and Badabambo stations at around 4 am in the Chakradharpur railway division of Jharkhand. The deceased youths have been identified as Ajit Samal of Malgodam and Bikash Rao of Railway Colony.
As their homes were nearby, it is assumed that they might have known each other and both boarded the general coach after purchasing tickets last night. However, the tragic incident occurred at 3.45 am. The bodies of Ajit and Vikash are currently at the Chakradharpur Hospital.
The bodies will be handed over to their respective families after post-mortem.
Meanwhile, the death of Ajit and Vikash has sent shockwaves in the Steel City. Family members of both the deceased will leave for Chakradharpur today to receive the bodies to perform their last rites, said sources.
