Bhubaneswar: The counting of votes polled in the bypoll to the Jharsuguda Assembly constituency on May 10 will be held at the Jharsuguda Engineering School on Saturday.
The counting of votes will begin at 8.00 AM tomorrow, informed Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Nikunja Bihari Dhal briefing reporters here today.
The CEO told that very elaborate security and administrative arrangements have been made for the smooth counting of votes.
“There will be 14 counting tables. So there will be 19 rounds of counting. First postal ballots will be counted. The counting will be done by the Returning Officer and the General Observer appointed by the Election Commission of India will be supervising the entire counting process,” informed Dhal.
He said that round-wise counting results will be available at the ECI website results.eci.gov.in and the District Collector will also provide round-wise counting results at the counting venue itself.
Round-wise counting results will be also provided at the Chief Electoral Officer’s office here, he added.
He said that an elaborate three-tier security arrangement comprising CAPF, State Armed Force, and local police will be put in place at the counting venue. The access control will be strict, he added.
He said that those media persons who have obtained passes from the CEO can enter the counting venue.
Dhal hoped that the counting shall be smooth and peaceful and it is expected to be over between 4-6 PM.
